Any way to abbreviate thousands?

I want to show a figure 1,245,000 as 1,245 ( with a column header of "000's")

is there way of modifiy the format rather then creating a new field that just divides it by 1000 ?

I think you'd need a formula, Crystal doesn't change the values of numerics, although in charts you can select values and axis to demonstrate in K, M, etc.
