Any way all the extension mods can be package installed ? 1

We are looking to upgrade to PERL 5.8.6 from 5.6. No one here has done it. My question is, can all or a bulk of all the mods not in the base be installed on top of the base when we go to 5.8.6 so that we have most everything in place and can call on the Tk mod or whatever other mod we need when needed rather than having to go through individual installs of all these mods at later times ? Is there a packaging that takes place that we can install the package of mods on top of the base ?
