Hi all,

We are planning to migrate from O8i to O10g.
Anybody has gone thru this process?
What are the main issues? problems?

I am more concerned about deplicated features. Something which works in 8i but not in 10g?

Please share your experiances. It may be theory, syntax, anything....

Regards

Che,

Typically, all of the SQL syntax works from 8i to 10g, but there are several instance parameters that have deprecated from 8i to 10g. I do not have a full list of the deprecated parameters, but Oracle kindly lists the obsolete parameters when it encounters them upon startup, but otherwise ignores them and continues on.

I did this a little over a year ago for our order entry system and it went pretty smoothly. so far my only complaints are personality quirks like connect internal is no longer an option (I know I shouldn't have been doing it for a while but most of my scripts were written on 7.3). it also leaves cryptic looking entries in the data dictionary when you drop objects ("trash can") which scared the ${explative} out of me the 1st time my architect called me over and said "what is this?". other than that not a big deal...
