hello, well yes you can start over again and you dont need to buy any books, y buy books when you can get the study material free online? go to proprofs.com its the same as mike myers and all other books.

Do you have to go to class to be able to complete an A+ cert or can you just buy bunch of books and study on your own?? If I had to study on my own, where can I take this exam around Los Angeles, California?

FlexB,

No you do not need to take any class - just study, pay for the exams and pass the exams.

In many cases classes especially at community colleges or adult training centers can be a benni because in most cases they give you access to computers to practice on as well as someone to bounce questions off of!

Best to get some older PCs and practice what you read in any of the A+ books out there - Mike Myers always does a good book!

You also need to practice the installations of the operating systems - again and again and again :)

As far as where to take the exams - just look in your local yellow pages under "computer testing" or CompTIA exams!

In the LA area you will find a bunch but check the test center out to make sure you will be able to do well there - I had one student soooo worried his car would be stolen in one "bad" area he could not do the exam. Another student said the test center was not sound proof and she could hear people calling about tests the whole time - another was put in a "closet" - VERY small room to do the exam :)

Hope this helps!
