Hi,

We have a DL380G5 running Windows 2003 R2 x64 with DP5.5. We have the latest storport driver and raised the block size to 256k. But at 256k we still seem to have problems. We seem to get 'Cannot write to device' error message which I think is a buffer problem.

We are using the SC11Xe U320 Single Channel HBA.

I have raised the block size from 64kb to 1024kb and 1024kb is the only one that allows a backup to complete without failure. It obviously works, but can we use 1024k without causing problems further on down the track? Restores?

Using LTO3 920 drive in 1x8 autoloader.

Thanks

Nathan

Hi according to documentation using different blocksize as 64kb for backups is not supported for ASR and EADR recovery procedures as this is only blocksize which Windows can handle.
So it is a good idea to stay with 64kb unless you dont care about this DR methods under Windows.

I have read this and I do care, but I just can't seem to backup using anything less than 1024.

We might just have to use the other DR method.

Thanks

Nathan
