Hi all,
I have once benefited from this site for a faster win me defrag utility. Anyone with an equal utility for Win XP? I have upgraded my OS and the default defrag is somewhat slower. Many thanks in advance.

Howdy:

I use Diskkeeper Lite.. That version is still free for the home user.

Thanks SESaskDFC, can you provide the link? I need any other free one for that matter. Appreciates your early response.

Diskeeper is a great product, but if you want max HD performance you will have to buy the full version. It is $30 for the download.

The full version has a boot time defrag that will:
Consolidate the Directory
Defrag the MFT
Reduce paging file fragmentation
You also have the option to run CHKdisk before the defrag routine starts.
Additionally you have the ability to automate the entire process.

I am not sure if the lite version is any different than the version installed in XP. Unlike most software vendors the company provides good customer support.

Diskeeper lite is actually the bundled defrag program included with W2K and XP.
Start--->Programs--->Accessories---->System Tools--->Disk defragmenter

Good luck, and Happy Computing

I own both Diskeeper and PerfectDisk.
I have found PerfectDisk to be faster and more efficient and has more options.
Though I suspect each has its fans. THe bundled lite version is slow.
