Dear All,

Is there a postscript command / menthod to copy a file from the local hard drive to the printer?

I need to download a form to the printers memory, so the form is resident in the printer and is merged with the data that is sent. I have the ability to run a postscript macro / command from within windows prior to the print data being submitted for print. Is this possible?

Any help will be appreciated.

Regards

I have used:
Code:
% serverdict begin 0 exitserver

at the beginning of postscript I want to stay resident on the printer. This works until the printer is turned off. If power on the printer is cycled, then the code desired to be printer resident must be resent, including the above command again.

I usually use memory resident routines that can be called by the postscript code I later send. Those routines are not in the postscript file I will later send to the printer, but are printer resident, reducing the size of the files I am sending to the printer repeatedly. A drawback might be that if power is cycled on the printer, then your printed pages will not include the form until the data is reloaded to printer memory.
