I need to set up routing on a MICS with DR 4.1 S/W tomorrow for a fairly large business. They recently contracted a 2 way inbound 800 and outbound long distance circuit with AT+T to save money in long distance charges. I will have channels 1-18 use. I have already moved lines to free up 1-24, and have the channels in a pool. Since I have never had to do anything with routing service, I would just like to confirm I am headed in the right direction, as I can have little down time. Can anybody give me a brief description on the best way to set this up? I would like the system to recognize the 1+ dialing and automatically use these channels when they dial long distance. The people that have the circuit gave me the specs for the T1, and I know how to provision that within the phone system. They also have a requirement that I need to have the system absorb the "1", which I believe I do by utilizing the "absorb digit". Anybody with some advice or experience in this matter could help me out. Thanks!!

Man.... call me crazy but I could swear I was just desribing this to someone else!. HB?
Anyway........
You will go into Services/ Routing Service/ Routes. Set up route 001 to use the pool you have your channels in. If it is a straight T using pool A then you will need to change the USE: ___ - to pool B temproarily while we build the dest code. Header out to Routes, next to Dest codes/ show code. Enter the code you want your customer to dial to get out. ie., 91ANY. (which is actually a dot in programming) Next to Normal: 000 change to use route 001. Show and change your absorb length to 2 so that it will suck up the 9 and the 1 and dial the digits following. Now go back into the route 001 and change the USE: ___ back to pool A. MRoberts

You will need to set up 2 routes, one for local (ex:analog 25-28) and one for LD (Ex:T-1 lines 1-24)
Ex:
Route 001 dialout=none use=pool A(Analog say lines 25-28 or whatever)
Route 002 dialout=none use=pool B(T-1, Lines1-24)

Then comes the fun. You need to build a dest code for each possible dial combination. If the user dials 9 then the number, all of your deast code would start with 9. Below is an example of this table of dest codes. Make sure to take out 9 in line pool codes before adding these. Also for the LD not wanting to see the 1 you would absorb the 91 out of a 91800 dest code for example.

Assuming all long distance begins with a 1 wouldn't 91ANY pointed to the route that is pointed to the T suffice?

For the local calls you would simply add the following dest codes to handle all of the possible local exchanges....
92ANY pointed to the other route that points to the LS/DS lines.
93ANY
94ANY
95ANY
96ANY
97ANY
98ANY

etc.. MRoberts

My mistake the dest code for 91800 would be going to local not LD. The tables right, the verbage on this one was incorrect.

P.S. the other guy had the right idea, but allmost all LD carriers do not want to see toll free calls and thus dest codes have to be very defined.

Thanks,
Mikescience

That and there are only 500 available dest codes. I'm not sure but I don't think it will cover all the possible 91*** combinations. MRoberts

Then wouldn't you just add the 1888*, 1866*, 1800*, 1877* etc. toll free dest codes to point to the local route? Much easier than trying to add the kitchen sink wouldn't it? MRoberts

I'll have to try the any, and then the exception. Thanks for the idea!

The table I build for this is about 60 dest codes see above.

Thanks,
Mikescience

Yep but long distance can be 1711, 1712, 1713, 7174 etc etc. Then you'd have to go to the sixes. 1611, 1612, 1613... Then fives, fours threes and twos. So 60 per possible digit lets say... is 420. Well, you might make all the combinations but ask your self, do ya wanna? ;-)

Would the dest code table look like this?

Route 001 -Local
Route 002 -LD

90ANY 001 1
91ANY 002 1
92ANY 001 1
93ANY 001 1
94ANY 001 1
95ANY 001 1
96ANY 001 1
97ANY 001 1
98ANY 001 1
99ANY 001 1

91877 001 1
91866 001 1

I have just changed the way I do this,
but on the old way 1711 would be covered by the 917 dest codes etc.
Thanks,
Mikescience

Yes, except the 91ANY would have an absorb length of 2 since his AT&T carrier doesn't want to see the 1.
And I am unaware of any exchanges that begin with 0 so the first code wouldn't be necessary.
But that's what I'm thinking...... MRoberts

yes MRoberts you are right, that's how I always build my routes. I've never had any problems.

Thanks a lot mroberts and mikescience. I really appreciate the good advice. I have the cutover today at 1:00, so I will use your responses as help. I'll let ya know how it went!
