Hello All,

I just want to make sure that I am correct and I have all the required licenses before sending a tech to all the locations and upgrading 8.0 to 8.1

All units have the Essential Edition, which I think is all I need.

Thanks,

Mike

You need upgrade licenses, in this case you need a 9.1 ADI upgrade license per site.

Thank you.

I did notice that one of the locations is at 8.1 (43) without any additional licenses. Is this because it was raised to 8.1 during the 90 day window?

I hate this licensing stuff!!

Update question.

All the site in a SCN have 8.0 (43) except 2 and another one that will added.

Sites 1-7 are part of a SCN

Sites 1-5 have 8.0 (43)
Site 6 has 8.0 (53)
Site 7 has 8.1 (43)

New site (Site 8) has 9.0.500.972 with VMPro

My question is should I downgrade all sites to 8.0 (43), and reinstall VMPro (customer does not want to pay for upgrade licenses for each IPO)? If I decide this route, do you see any problems downgrading site like Site 8? Would the downgrade be done through Manager?

Mike

you can downgrade to R8 if you want. It is best practice to run a SCN at the same software release. It is not technically required though, SCN is supported across two major releases (e.g. 8-8.1-9). However SCN features will be at the lowest release (in this case R8).

If you decide to do this, all sites should be downgraded/upgraded to 8.0.66 (latest R8 maintenance release). Keep in mind that at this release, customer will receive ZERO support for troubles from Avaya. I assume they have no maintenance (IPOSS), otherwise there would be no concern regarding the cost of upgrade licenses. They need to be on R9.1 or R10 to receive support.

IP500V2 upgrades and downgrades are done through Manager, VM pro downgrades... well that depends on what you are talking about (app server vs WIndows server?) I'm assuming you are not using a UCM, as it only supports 6 sites in a SCN.

Not running UCM VMPro is running on a 2008 server. I am just really worried about downgrading the 9.0 IPO to 8.0 and the configuration becoming corrupt.

Thanks everyone!

@Joe, so you think all the systems they way they are, are fine for the SCN. I was under the impression the VMPro was very picky about version while the SCN just needed to be within one major release.
