TREND or SYMANTEC or GROUPSHIELD

we are currently on R5.0.12 and we are thinking about changing our ANTIVIRUS software. Also, we are planning on 6.0.x in the coming months...

So I was wondering has anyone else gone through the ANTIVIRUS decision... and could provide me with some PRO/CON between the 3 mentioned different Virus Protection
Apps?

Unable to comment on Symantec, but we had no luck with Groupshield. We have been using Trend (Scan Mail) for over a year on all our Domino servers and have implemented an IMSS (Trend Product) SMTP Gateway out in our DMZ for inbound mail.

In my opinion, the new Scan Mail v2.6 is rock solid and is very fast. There are also a lot of options that can be configured and controlled via Notes DB's.

The IMSS product is also well put together and provides andanced control, including Spam Filtering, Content Filtering, Mass Mailer, etc.. and auto updating from the trend control center.

Hope this helps.

We are using NAV for Notes on our server and it seems to work fine. Our US office runs Trend on the SMTP gateway and this seems to work very well. Our NAV downloads defs from a central NAV database in the US so it's easy to keep things up to date.

Cheers!

We have been using Panda antivirus for a while now and it intergrates fully with Domino. The anti-virus loads as part of the server startup. Good we have got it as last month around 60 e-mails were recieved with virii (is it Virii or viruses ?)

we're using symantec anti virus enterprise 3.0 for domino with no problems, dats download and replicate to other domino servers without a hitch

I've used AVG antivirus from grisoft.com. Very reasonably priced, easy to configure. If you are on a small budget - I can recommend them.

Hi

We have a little bit of a mixed environment being a multi-national firm.

At our main gateway at the HQ we run Trend Micro. Here at my place we have a domino network (bot 5.12 and 6.0 servers)I am running Norton Anti virus (NAV) for Lotus Domino version 8.0 and I find it to be fantastic.

It not only filters out regular viruses it also captures html worms that trend micro seems to miss.

The other great feature that I like about NAV 8.0 is the content filtering part. Works like a wonder!! After I put in the rules I see a lot of smiling users (and a few grumpy ones too!) cos the the drastic drop in porno and spam emails to almost zero.

We outsourced the anti-virus and anti-spamming to a third party company. They provided good price performance and now we are hassale free. No virus found in our network for the past year.

I have Trend Micro for all my system(windows platforms and lotus ones)..Client sides are working perfect but there are many questions for lotus server part.(especially spam solutions of trend micro)...
I moved from Panda platform and we tried NAV and Trend micro for a while...result is Trend Micro..reasons are Easy to use, less hw source consumption...etc

CRITICAL***

You can use Tren-Micro Anti Virus software...This is will scan all emails in gateway itself before coming to email server...But make sure that policy written are correct in firewall to re-route scanning and re-sending mail outside and inside...If its a server scanning software..you can go ahead and buy any softwares

cheers

SAV (Symantec) is the software of choice here, along with stripping out any attachments that we don't want (expecally zip files since the SAV software is unable to scan into password protected zip files).
