How do I wire/hook up an answering machine on an extension?

If you have an MLX phone - you will need to get an MFM adjunct - which is basically a single-line phone on a board - that mounts under the telephone. You can put an immediate ring primary cover button on the adjunct ext# to cover the phone. After x rings (prohgrammed in the answering machine) - the call will go to the answering machine.

If you don't have an MFM adjunct - you could use a single-line connection to an 012 or 016 module. Again - for that ext# - put a cover button on it for the extention number you want covered by the answering machine.

If you have none of the above - I guess you could use a line splitter to cover a specific outside number with the answering machine - instead of a specific extention number.
