Have a user that is set up with a remote coverage path which goes to his home business line. When this is active and people call his number directly, no problems. If you call the voice mail system (Aria 250) and enter his number at the prompt, this is what he says happens.

My homes phone rings twice and then this voice message is heard by the caller ("that extension does not answer") and the message is routed to my company voicemail.

If I grab the phone quickly enough to answer before the two rings have completed then I get a dead line at my end and the caller gets a "connecting" voice message. The call never connects.

Any help would be appreciated.

The Octel is set to supervised the transfer and it sounds like the number of rings is set to 2 you should up the rings to 5 or so and then check the sequence to transfer a call as the PBX may not do a trunk to trunk transfer with supervised transfer. you may need to do a blind transfer,\.

What kind of PBX ?

Thanks for the replys.
PBX is S8700 G3V11 R011x.03.1.531.0
VM is Aria 250 V02.04.09-1

have you checked in menu 1 1 to see what the number of rings is set for ?

Does the situation work for other users? If u call the extension directly does it route to the home correctly?
How many rings do u have the pbx set for in the cover path?
If u find that the Octel is set up correctly, u might want to post in the Definity forum.

This sounds like a security issue. If you are set up for trunk to trunk transfer you open yourself up to telephone fraud. People can hack the voice mail and use it to dial out anywhere. I don't recommend trunk to trunk transfers on any PBX with an Octel attached.

Hello Ken

I checked per your suggestion and the rings were set low. The person with the problem is in our Sunnyvale office and is out for a week so he will get back with me when he returns, other users seem to work ok. (no complaints)

Will post follow up when I get to work with him.
One thing I did notice is he as "send all call" active on the pbx and also his remote coverage option. May not be what is causing the problem but I'm sure it's not helping it any.
