I'm add a Nortel 81C switch to (5) G3si switches that are networked together with DCS. I know all the G3si's need to be changed to QSIG to include the Nortel. My question is does AVAYA just shut the DCS off and choose QSIG, or is there more to it?

Thanks in advance,
Mike in NH

You should be able to do a QSIG to DCS gateway..

I don't know why using dcs gateway to Qsig , what is benefit for use this method compare just only use Qsig protocal.

Other than the fact that you have to go through all of your switches and switch over to QSIG..

If you're willing to do that, then I'd do that..

If you add the qsig-dcs gateway link between the g3si and the nortel it will give the ability to signal back to the other g3si's because it will do the conversions to qsig for you when you call from the other switches. DCS is an avaya proprietary protocol that is very feature rich and has some added benefits over straight up qsig. It would be a waste of time to convert all of you're existing links to qsig. Only use it when you need to and thats just on the t1 that goes to the nortel. Hope this helps you out.

Thank you !! But is it need enable DPNSS feature on avaya special application.

Not to my knowledge, that shouldn't have to be touched.
Email me at gunzR0zes@yahoo.com if you still have some problems
