Hi,
I have recently downloaded the ISO files as well, and although I <b>CAN</b> boot to a CDROM, the system will not boot to the CD I burned with the ISO image on it.

Well, the instructions on RedHat's site say that alternately, I can mount the CDROM drive and get the boot.img file from the images directory.

When I mount the drive (booting to tomsrtbt), all I can see is the <color lime>valhalla-i386-disc1.iso</color> file. I suspect that if I download a boot disk image, I will get the error spoken of in other recent posts on this forum.

What is the way to install the OS when all you have is 3 disks with ISO images on them? No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thinking.

valhalla-i386-disc files are whole ISO disk images.
You must burn'em as image, not as file (i.e. do not add them to the image pre-created by your burn soft. You must select them as image source).

Copy ISO files back to HD and re-burn as images

In Nero ( File - Burn Image - browse for the .iso file.

Amazing what stating the obvious can accomplish for those around you. Thanks you for the answer.

Thanks for the thoughtful follow-up. Can Roxio's software do the same? I've never noticed (and I'm not at that computer).

It can, but Nero is much better IMO.

I might need to ammend your last post. Maybe Roxio is supposed to be able to, but can't?

I used the help file to set up an ISO image burn, burned it at 4x, and ended up with a useless disk.

So I downloaded nero, and burned all three disks in about an hour, and all tested good.

I love that quote, LOL

Yeah, Roxio generally sucks. I've had bad luck with it too. You probably could get it working with a little fiddling around, but why would you want to when Nero is available? I use Nero to burn everything except copy-protected discs, and in that case, I use CloneCD.

We have the old EZ CD Creator (pre-Roxio) and that is what I used to create my images. File...Create CD from CD image... find the file.

I didn't have any problems with it. I'm not saying it's great, but it works. A friend has Nero and I found it awkward to work with, but then again, I had never used it before.
