I've picked up that ghastly virus that takes you to an ad page when you click on a Google search link. I'm not a professional but this is the only site that seemed to have answers. I tried following one of the other threads where someone had this problem but it didn't achieve anything. Please help me 'cause it's really, really irritating not to have Google work.

Here is a Hijackthis logfile (everyone else seemed to have one).

Then download avg anti spyware from the link below. Be sure it says avg anti spyware before you download. Once you have it downloaded and installed, open it up, click scanner, then click settings, click the blue link under default action for detected malware and set it to delete.

Then download ccleaner from the link below.

Run ccleaner first, empty out all temp crap with it. Basically open it up, run cleaner hit ok on the warning and let it go. Make sure before you download that you have not been redirected to another site.

Then post another logfile

Hopefully this has worked, there were defintiely some dodgy things being removed. I knew I had viruses pretending to be avp and lsass and w32tm but I wasn't sure how to handle them. They might not even have been the problem.

Thanks again.

Yeah that one lsass I had you remove was a fake lsass. It was in the wrong directory.

go there and click remove cool web search and download cws shredder and run it. Run ccleaner again, disable and enable system restore, then run avg anti spyware again. Your hijackthis logfile is clean.

(make sure hidden files and folders are selected to show before proceeding below)
Also when done, go to c, program files, documents and settings, username, local settings, temp. Delete anything left that ccleaner did not remove that windows will let you delete. You will have a couple files in there being use that wont delete but you should be able to get it down to 5 files or less.

Post back with results and another logfile.

The bug doesn't seem to be manifesting aymore so I'm pretty confident that this has worked. Running CCleaner twice freed up an absurd 2.9gb which is almost 4% of my total hard drive.

Here's the Hijackthis log.

Log looks clean so if you are having no more problems id say your clean. Yeah ccleaner is a good program for removing all the temp garbage on a computer that most people do not realize is there lol.
