I am using the 4 port linksys router with my DSL at home and I am trying to connect to a VPN at work. The admin. told me to use IPSec and not NAT. (huh?) How do I configure the router so I can connect to the VPN at work??

Your router is NAT based...this does not work with VPNs unless you set up special configuration settings.

You will need to find out which ports your VPN uses to transmit its encryption data and the procedure to configure your router for "port forwarding" . IPSec (at least for a Nortel VPN client) uses port 500 UDP. I use a SMC Barricade router and have set it up to forward port 500 (UDP).

I suggest you visit a sight called practicallynetworked.com. They have a section devoted to helping troubleshoot VPN from home networks.
