anonymous ftp access without password

Hello everyone

I have setup a HP-UX machine (B.11.00 U 9000/899) as an anonymous ftp server allowing people to ftp files to the server from Microsoft Windows exployer and DOS etc.
The server name used for the ftp is: ftp://server.something.com

On connecting to the server via Windows Exployer the user is not prompted for an account (anonymous) or password (email address) but is allowed to just copy a file into the ftp directory.

Any ideas anyone why a user account and password are not requested by the server ?

Doesn't IE automatically provide a username/password for anonymous access?

You are right. MS IE does automatically fill in the user and password. Thanks.
