Good Day,

Browsing certain sites, a warning box displays "security warning" : the web page is trying to open a page in your "trusted sites"....
How can I manage this annoyance?

Thanks

This sounds very virus-like. I suggest starting with some thorough AV scans from faq760-3862

Probably spyware/malware:

Webroot Spysweeper

Download it here:

Webroot Spysweeper 14 day Trial

Update the defs and do a sweep.

Also check this out:

Ewido download:

Update it and run a complete scan.

I would also check it with some other virus scanners just to make sure.

Post back and let us know if you find anything.

Best regards.

Erik

Made the best of all the suggestions and ran anti spy/ av software.
I still get the (windows) warning but I have tried the new-ware. I believe it's a windows level of security that has to be re-set somehow.

Cheers to all that have replied so promptly.

I meant "Set everything to default or for a test set the level to low."

The only way to fix things it to test and research.

I was just doing some other reading and ran across someone else posting about the same issue. Is this what you're seeing?

This is definately something that you do not want to allow. It's probably some advertising malware on that page. Have a look at the source code of the page, or post a link here.

This is not mal-ware related ... it's called Zone Elevation Blocking and it's where one website tries to access another website which has a higher trusted level than the current site. See the below link for how to disable it. Sorry, I don't know much about this. I only know of it because I was getting this at work too and it's really annoying.

It could very well be malware related. That is the reason that IE defaults to blocking trusted site. There are very few legitimate reasons that a web page would try to open a site in the user's trusted zone.

That was poor wording [blush]. That second sentence should read:

That is the reason that IE defaults to blocking access to the trusted site.
