Annoying drive map pop-up 2

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it extremely annoying that W2k and XP automatically pops up a new explore window when you map a new network drive?

Has anyone found a way to disable this 'feature?'

It is annoying. But seems to be no way to turn it off permanently.

You can hold down shift key as you open it and that should stop the pop-up but it is inconsistent.

When I right-click MyComputer and hit Map Network Drive, I do not get an explore window. How are you mapping drives?

If you use the Start, Run, net use format you will not get an explorer Window.

Does matter how I map, normally, though I right-click My Computer, and say map drive. If I use Windows Explorer \tools\map network drive, I get the same result.

Here is a fix for 2000, doesn't seem to work for me on XP Pro, however...

looks like XP is writing simular info to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MountPoints2

I tried several revisions of the 2000 fix, no luck either.
