I've written the bulk of an application that's supposed to run, basically permanently, in the background and do certain repetetive tasks in order to keep two shipping systems in sync (it's complicated and quite boring, so I won't go into it here). The problem is that I've just discovered the application spawns a pointless ms dos box and it won't go away. There is no user interface to this application, it's just supposed to run quietly in the background, doing its job and not making a fuss. I neither need nor want a dos box, so is there any way I can get rid of it?

are you using "exec" or "open" and redirecting std/out?
to run the app Tcl is controlling?

regards,
Jicote.
