I've got a Microsoft Intellimouse that Windows XP doesn't want to recognize upon startup, and it's really becoming irritating. It's usually about a 50/50 shot as to whether my mouse will work upon initial booting. If it works then, it will work until I reboot. When the mouse doesn't work upon initial boot, all I have to do is unplug it then plug it back in. Any thoughts?

I've got an MSI motherboard w/ the KT400 chipset & WinXP Pro. The board's ports are USB2 while the mouse is USB1 if that makes a difference.

Check within your motherboard BIOS settings for support for usb keyboard and mouse.

If they are disabled, try to enable then to see that helps.

Yes, In your BIOS make sure your USB Keyboard Support is enabled during bootup, even if you are using a PS2 Keyboard but have a USB Mouse. This is especially a problem when you have the mouse plugged into your first USB Port (On the left as you face it from the back). That should solve the problem.

I flipped the "legacy support" option in the bios to enabled, so I'll see how that works out.
