Hi,
I am trying to setup the built in Announcement on the MP of a 2000ips. I have tried following the manual but no joy.

The intention is to rx a DID call on virtual extension 9200 which will be the incoming line for an announcement informing the calling party of the hours of business and then after the announcement fowarding the call to extension 9205.

Any ideas or pointers?
Thanks

I would assume you have voice mail, so why not just use that? Forward your virtual extension 9200 all calls to the voice mail pilot. If you are using a NEC/Active Voice product, build a Transaction box, record what ever you want for your day and night greeting, and set the transfer field to 9205 and your done. If it's not an NEC product there should be the equivilent type of box available for call routing.

The messages on the CPU are used more for ACD delay announcements, hotel wake up announcements, etc. As far as I know, you can't use them to play a message and then transfer, although I have never tried.

I note that in the feature programming manual the following is listed

Announcement Service can be used to provide a voice message when an incoming DID line/Tie
line call has been terminated to a station and encounters a busy or no answer condition. After
the voice message is given, normal call processing continues.

Whilst I haven't had to do this myself, I would suggest you try making the announcement a busy announcement. Set a call forward busy to 9205 and then make 9200 busy with E50.

The applicable line is "After the voice message is given, normal call processing continues." So encountering the busy 9200 it should give the announcement then resume normal processing and follow the call forward busy.

I have tried but no sucess. What about using the MP auto attendant? I have tried using the MP auto attendant, but can't get the call to go further than getting the message.
