We have several LSP's that all have unused VAL boards as all announcements reside on the main switch in NY. Is it possible to copy the appropriate announcements to the local LSP's VAL resource (using different assigned extension numbers) and then create a vector that will default to the local val resource should network connectivity fail between the sites?

I am thinking something like the following would work:

01 Wait - Ringback
02 Goto Step 5 is media-gateway X <> registered [Gateway X being the local LSP]
03 announcement 10001
04 goto step 6 unconditionally
05 Announcement 20001
06 {Continues to menu option and Agent queuing steps}

Thoughts?

Possible Vector configuration Option #2:

01 Wait - Ringback
02 Goto Step 5 if Server = LSP
03 announcement 10001
04 goto step 6 unconditionally
05 Announcement 20001
06 {Continues to menu option and Agent queuing steps}

audio groups are designed for this.

Locally Sourced Announcements and Music

The Locally Sourced Announcement and Music feature is based on the concept of
audio source groups. This feature allows announcement and music sources to be
located on any or all of the Voice Announcement with LAN (VAL) circuit packs or
on virtual VALs (v VAL) in a media gateway. The VAL or v VAL circuit packs are
assigned to an audio group. The audio group is then assigned to an announcement
or audio extension as a group sourced location. When an incoming call requires
an announcement or music-on-hold, the audio source that is closest to the
incoming call trunk plays the file that is assigned to the announcement
extension.

For more information, see the feature description on "Locally Sourced
Announcements and Music."

I agree 100%, I have used audio groups with great success in the past. However it was decided that we would not use audio groups as it would be too difficult for the End-users to update their daily announcements. Now they have an assigned extension that they call into to make those changes.

So I was tasked to 'find another way' of doing the same thing but without audio groups.
