Announce Users on Conference Call

Through Voicemail Pro modules I have configured a line for certain employees to call in, enter an assigned unique conference ID, and then enter their pin code (which is changeable through another module).

I wanted to know if it is possible to have the system announce the number of callers on the call to an attendee right before they join? It does beep as users join/leave the call, but the higher-ups would like more if possible?

Appreciate the help.

Bumping since I never received a response.

Thanks.

You could use user variables for it with a counter, so the first entering the conference through VM Pro wil increase the counter by one,any additional caller passing VM Pro to join the conference will increase the counter with 1.
You can play the value of the variable with a generic action.

So first caller dials in on the conference module, the counter increases with 1 ( value will be 1 ) and use a compare to play a message, for the first play a wav file like "you are the first joining the conference" and do the same for the additional callers but then you play a message like "you are number " <value of the variable> "in the conference".

The only thing to be aware of is that the counter will not reset automatically to 0 if the conference ends.

Sadly, the conferencing is very limited on the IP Office. Intrigrant's idea does work, I've set that up before. The issue is that yeah, there's no easy way to reset to 0, unless you make a quick shortcode that the presenter must dial to reset the variable to zero. Also, there is no way to account for people that *leave* the conference. Sure, 10 people joined, but 2 dropped off, or got disconnected. It says you're the 13th person there, but, there's now only 11.

My idea is this. The extension that does the conferencing (must be personal extension conferencing), has announcements on. The announcement/queue would calculate all of those in queue for that user (conference does not start until the moderator at the personal extension joins). It would use the position in line, and use text to speech (or the less known variable-in-the-prompt trick) to speak the position in queue, as your "number" in the conference. So people don't keep getting looped and hearing that same garbage, put it into a still queued without the message. might work? probably not though. worth a shot.

Haha.. thanks for the suggestions. Doing what intrigrant suggested seems viable.. but very time consuming to execute (especially since I've setup about 15 conference IDs for calling in and would have to create the setup for each one).

no, it wouldn't be time consuming at all. Using variables, its very easy. Hopefully you are using user variables to store the pass (confpin1000, etc), and then use another one like (conftotal1000) to store the numbers of users joined. Every time someone hit that 1000 conference, before the transfer, you would set a user variable, conftotal1000 + 1.

Like he said though, someone would have to manually reset it. AND it does not account for people leaving the call.
