What is the best way to set up an answer only mailbox on the IP office with VM Pro?

I want to set up a mailbox with a DID number that will play an announcement when someone calls in, but will not record any incoming messages and of course will not ring a phone either.

Is an Hunt Group announcement the way to go?

This is on IP office 4.1.12 and VM Pro 4.1.40.

Depends on how many times you want the listener to listen to the message. DID to group to queue will work and give the opportunity to play in a loop by using a menu timout. If you want one and out you could send to a phantom user and set the mailbox as answer only.

You can point a DID to a "phantom user" and then create a custom leave mail action for that user in VMPro. Point it to a menu with a recording, then set the time out back to the menu so it just plays in an indefinite loop.

Is that what you're looking for?

I am not looking for the message to play in a loop, I would want it to only play one time and then disconnect.

The idea is for people to call in and hear information that would change several times a day. They would listen to the recording then hang up or be disconnected if they don't hang up.

Just build a module in VM that has a generic action with the message recorded. Then connect it to a disconnect action. Just make sure you set up your incoming call route to go to the module in VM.

I would setup a Hunt group and enable voicemail. if you are using the intutity mode after you have recorded the greeting you can set the voicemail box to information only. That way the user can change the message without requiring access to the VM Pro client.
