analong phone message waiting light

i have a nortel option 81 switch, with call pilot voicemail system and i have a 500 phone that the message waiting light will not quit flashing on , i have changed the phone, changed the tn & dn, changed the voicemail box number but light continues to flash even changed cls to lpd and light continues on,,, i think gremlins have invaided this phone and wont leave,,, any help?

You sure thats not just the Analogue Phone power LED ?

Just to rule out that it's a phone issue. Put a butt set on that TN in monitor and see if your hear the DC voltage pulsing off and on. Or put a meter on it. That way we will know of it's the PBX or the phone.

Try this: Program a digital set with a MCK (Message Cancellation) key. Press this key, enter the DN with the stuck on message waiting lamp, and press again. The lamp should go out.

I've had cases in Hotels with MWI and guests phones. We discovered that some versions needed the wires to be reversed to stop the flashing.

Except my last post is probably not helpful as you say you've already changed the DN/TN/set/etc... I'm not sure whats left!

Try adding a MIK key and MCK key to your phone. Then you can light message waiting lights and extinguish them too from your phone.
