I moved my ATM16 analogue trunk (with v6.2) from my IP412 (with v4.2) to an old IP406v1 (with v3.2) to test something. The card was not automatically detected by the 406v1. I now returned it back to the 412 but it is now not being recognized.

I have rebooted both the card and the 412 but no detection.

Pls help me out? what could be wrong?

Did you try downgrading it first to match the lower level?

From the upgrade wizard I am unable to see the trunk card so cannot select it to downgrade

When you say card do you mean module? As the ATM16 is not a card :)

Also Olisa you need to power down before connecting the module and then power up once it is connected ideally :)

Thank for the replies.

@Amriddle01: I meant module. sorry. Do I power down the 412 or the ATM first?
@TomMills: Kindly advice on how i can downgrade the unit?

A expansion module needs to be running before the ipo is.
Normal this means that you power down the module and the ipo and if you give them both power at the same time then you are alright.
The module is up and running before the ipo is.
If everythig is right then you just go to file -> advanced -> upgrade.
Then manager should show you all modules and the ipo and only the module is checked.
If that is the case then click oke and it will be uprgaded.
If not then let us know what you see.

Thanks tlpeter.

When I go to file>advanced upgrade, I only see the ipo.
There is no module showing. That is the problem.

Use the original blue cable and plug in the module to a free expansion module port on the back.
Then reboot the module and then the ipoffice.
Then try again.

I have now done that, using the blue cable but still the module cannot be detected.

You could try downgrading it on the 412.
But then you must use the right software and only select the module and not the rest !

But if it is getting too complicated then you better call your Avaya business partner so solve this !

I tired that too and the 412 cannot see the module either.

Can the action of plugging it off a 412 with v4.2 and into a 406 with v3.2 have caused this? Coz when I take it back to the 412 it cannot be seen either.

Look at the module and see if the led in the middle is flashing green.
If it does then it is not recognized by the ipoffice yet.
Then you need to reboot the ipoffice to get it working.

Yes it is flashing green. And when I connect to it by hyperterminal through the serial port at the back, it tells ne hello> and can lists some commands when I type help.

However, even in this state the 412 and the 406 cannot detect it. Is ther a way to 'force' them to see it?

Thanks for your assistance.

What port did you remove it from on the 412 and did you put it back in the same one? You can't force it to be seen other than rebooting as you have been doing :)

Yes I put it back into the same port

What control do I have of the commands in hyperterminal? Can I reset the module or erase the v4.2 software tha was there and return it to 'new' state?

Thanks a lot for your ideas.

The problem you have is because it isn't registered to a system at all there may be no way of getting the new firmware to it once deleted, there is an FAQ that could be adapted to get it working...it's worth a shot here it is:

I will try again !
Did you reboot the 412 or 406 when you have connected the module !
If not then do it because the ipoffice will not see the module until you reboot the ipoffice.
Then it stops flashing green and it is seen by the ipoffice !
