Anyone had any experience setting up terminal adapters to provide analogue extensions at remote sites over IP?

hmmm... I've used Multitech and Puredata (planet) legacy VoIP gateways that I can connect directly to an IPO with VCM board. You can provision the voip gateway with FXS ports connected to analog phones, then just plan your UDP programming out carefully.

What exactly are you try to do?

I want to use a TA to provide an analogue extension at a remote site that currently has a couple of ip phones runninig off the HO site, I have done this before using fxs/fxo devices but not with TA's.

My experience with TA's speaks to devices that provide multiple RS232 ports available via an IP address... are there versions that provide fxs style ports?

No, they plug into your network and register with the gateway and have a few analogue ports.

So what's the difference between what you're calling a TA and an fxs voip gateway? BTW there are TA's that provide RS232 ports over the network, very handy little doodads too.
