Hello all,

I have a customer with an IP500 on v 5.0(18) they have a machine located in a workshop which is accessed via modem (siemens TSA 2)connected directly to the unit and patched via structured cabling back to the main comms room, inturn this is connected to an analogue extn port on the 500, the remote access number is a DDI configured off the ISDN 30 pointed to the relevant user configured on the switch (incoming call route type configured as "any").

The problem i'm having is that when dialling into the modem on the first call you correctly hear the modem tone, however once you attempt a second call the port is busy and doesnt appear to clear down unless you disconnect the patch lead from the relevant port, i've tried having the user connect to an alternate port to rule out a faulty port/card and swapped the base extn around and also tested on the second analogue card that they have in the unit (same results when testing on all pot ports so i doubt its a faulty card)
The extn is configured as standard telephone Flash hook pulse width set to use system defaults and hook persistency set to 100ms, it appears that the remote device is not clearing down the call or for some reason causing the port to lock up.
Has anyone encountered this before if so some advice would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this all answers appreciated

If you know what the max length of any call/connection would be, you rout the call to a shortcode that disconnects the call after a preset time :)

ACSS (SME)
APSS (SME)

Thanks for the reply AMriddle, i'm a little confused(apologies) it's difficult to determin the max length of the call as the machine maintianers dial into it to perform software upgrades/programming changes etc

If you monitor the extension, call it internally, let the modem answer. After you hang up will it release from an internal call? Sounds like a modem issue from the initial description.

Thanks Textron have asked that they try that and let me know, i also suspect it could be a modem issue (end users argument is it worked ok on the old index system)It happens on every analogue port i try it on

Hi guys, had the end user test this today and when dialling the internal extn number we have the same issue the call connects in the first instance however any repeat calls recieve busytone system status shows the port as "disconnecting" standard pot phone appears to be fine and rings and clears down as would be expected.

Try setting the analog port to IVR.
IVR Port
Used for analog ports connected to devices that require a disconnect clear signal (ie. a break in the loop current) at the end of each call. When selected the Disconnect Pulse Width is used.

Hello All,

Apologies for the delay on the reply i have tested setting the port as an IVR port but have found that the line just rings with no connecting modem tone (again tested this over several different ports on several different cards)

I suspect at this point that there is a compatibility issue somewhere between the switch and the machine modem (Siemens TSA2)as mentioned in previous posts the port works fine when connecting a pot phone suggesting no issue on the cards
