Ok so I have a Police dept that wants an analog line to ring on many phones but does not want it to be answered by voicemail. I know I need to setup a call route to make it ring at all but what can I point it to (all phones that the line will appear on has voicemail) so that it rings on their phones but doesn't fall into any of their mailboxes. BTW, it will be a line appearance button on all phones.

Thanks in advance.

Even if they have a line appearence button for this trunk?

You can point it to a group and also put that line appearance on the phone. The only drawback is that the line will flash and their call appearance will flash on an inbound call.

What i've done in the past is point the inbound to an h323 user created as a phantom with no voicemail. Then put the line appearances on the phone and it will only ring on the line versus on both buttons.

Until answered using a line appearance button, incoming calls alerting on a line appearance, follow the settings of the incoming call route's destination group or user. They do not follow the settings of any line appearance user.

nice idea to use a phantom for the ICD to avoid double call appearance. you wouldn't actually need to create an h323 for the ICR, i think you could just create a user without an extension, or if you used a group just not add any users.

Ok, I like the idea of pointing it to a phantom ext w/out vm and then assign line appearence buttons to the actual users.

Thanks Telecomboy
