Analog Set can't dial toll free numbers 1

IPO 9.1. My analog sets on analog ports when they dial a toll free number with area code 877 or 844 receive a continuous tone, they are unable to dial and connect with these numbers. They can dial and connect to long distance numbers with not toll free area codes such as 269.

The user/extensions for these particular analog lines are not associated with DIDs in incoming call route. They are conference room analog speaker phones that are intended for dial out only.

A regular analog set on the same port gives the same results.

Possible causes?

It is because they aren't associated with a DID and are probably not sending out the proper digits for outbound caller id. Create a short code under the user that sends out the main number for the company and that should fix it.

If you are not familiar with user short codes it might be easier for you to go to your ARS table and create a few new entries that cover the toll free numbers:

SC: 1877N;
Tel: 1877Ns5555555555 where the 5's represent the main number
Feature: Dial or Dial 3k1 (copy how the other entries are set)
Line: 0 (this may not be 0, copy the other entries again)

Create a code for each of the toll free prefixes. This will send the main number anytime a toll free number is called from the system (regardless of DID or not).

I like the user sc idea better so it will affect only this user/ext but not sure this is possible given ARS table SCs.

Currently all users have only one SC

SC: 9N;
Tel: N
Feature: Dial
Line Group: 50

Then several SCs in ARS including

SC: XN;
Tel: NSxxxyyyE (where xxx is our area code and yyy is our DID prefix
Feature: 3k1
Line Group: 5

Would a user SC like below work or get "clobbered" by ARS?

SC: 9N;
Tel: NSxxxxxxxxxx (where xxxxxxxxxx is our "main number")
Feature: Dial
Line Group: 50

Instead of line group being 50 which would send it to the ars table, choose line group 5 which appears to be the outside line group for your system. This will avoid the ARS table and send the call out on line group 5 from the users sc.

I see now that would work and have learned about telephone Number SC syntax and the relationship between User Short Codes and ARS short codes.

I just decided to give this set a regular DID which made the toll free dialing all good and allows for incoming calls to the conference phone.

Thank you for your help Telecomboy!

I think this is very locale specific. It doesn't happen here like that.

If you try to send the wrong caller id, the call still goes through, albeit with the caller id of the analogue line.

Here's a witty rejoinder for you.
