Hello,

Are there any Avaya (or other brand) analog phones that provide intercom capability with the IP Office 500V2 controller? Per Avaya's configuration tool, the 6211 is the only analog phone available for this unit, but it does not have intercom capability.

Thanks!

Analogue devices use contact closure as their only signalling method, as such they can't really support auto answer on speakerphone, if that's what you mean be intercom.

That's true of any system though not just IP Office :)

I was worried that may be the case.

Thanks.

I think there are SIP phones available with that feature and Avaya added it at the IPO side with 9.1.

it uses 2 wires just like a digital phone, just replace it with a digital set as long as there is a free port available and the cable is not too long

That's the problem -- they used up all of their digital ports and do not want to pay the cost of an additional card. They consider the intercom capability essential, so they may have to pony up if they want it badly enough.

I run into this all the time. They act like it will break them even if the cost is maybe 5% of the original purchase.
