Hello forum.

Recently we had some troubles with our T1 provider which were caused by the Pacific Bell malfunctioning wires.
In order to provide business contigiency - we thought to enable fail over the plain analog lines which we are using in the business.

As I understood from documentation the M0X8A module enables 8 analog lines to connect the analog devices internally.

Do they have any modules that connect external analog lines to the system - to enable backup channel to the phone company.

Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Yuri Gelman

You can install a 0x12 trunk module and equipit with some copper trunks then overflow the T1 to the copper. If the T1 goes down you still have an out

Do you have any documentation about that module by any chanse?

Thanks a lot for your help.
Yuri.

Do you have a T1 or PRI as your main circuit?

If it is a PRI, I am told that you CANNOT failover to analog POTS lines. If you have DID service coming in on a PRI (like we do) I think you might need to install some analog DID trunks which are available from the telco as a failover. We are struggling with this problem as well.

Mroberts posted this awhile back.

To make PRI /T-1 lines overflow if busy to local LS/DS lines:

Build route 001 to use Pool A, which has the PRI/ T-1 channels in it. Then set up Route 002 to use Pool B, which has your local LS/DS lines in it.

Go under Services to SCHED: NIGHT, press Show, set service to manual. Press Next and set OVERFLOW to Y.

Under DEST CODE 9 set NORMAL: 002, press Next and set NIGHT: 001.

Then whoever is the control set, will press Feature 873, Password is 266344. The screen will show SERVICES ON. This will stay on the phone at all times. If it doesn’t then your overflow is no longer working and all calls are going out over the local lines.

Good Luck!!

THANK YOU MR.EXCUTONE MY THOUGHTS AS WELL

Executone,

The solution you proposed (ala Mroberts) is quite corrrect but only for OUTbound calls when the PRI or T1 pool is out of lines.

What do you do about INcoming DIDs on a T1 or PRI. When my PRI is out of service, dialing in to the DIDs gives an outside caller a busy signal and we cannot find a failover for this condition.

There is no failover for incomming, unless you have one setup through your carrier. They can program a fail-safe method to target your main line to a pots line. They can also redirect to another T1/PRI. As far as DID calls I have not heard of a solution yet, but busy signal is better than ring no answer.

Good Luck!!

So let me just put all the things together.
1. I have to purchase 12x0 and connect it to the system.
2. Then I can connect all the analog lines to it.
3. Then I have to set up Pool A to contain PRI_1
4. Then I have to set up Pool B to contain PRI_2
5. Then I have to set up Pool C to contain local LS/DS (by the way what is LS/DS?).
6. Set up three routes 001, 002, 003 to use Pool A,B and C respectively.
7. Go under Services to SCHED: NIGHT, press Show, set service to manual. Press Next and set OVERFLOW to Y.

8. Under DEST CODE 9 set NORMAL: 003, press Next and set NIGHT: 001(or 002) - by the way is it done on per system base.
9. Then whoever is the control set, will press Feature 873, Password is 266344. The screen will show SERVICES ON

I hope that's right.

Please let me know if there is something other to it.

Thanks,
Yuri.

LS/DS= loopstart/ dissconnect supervision lines

It looks like you have it all figured out.

Good Luck!!

You may have an open trunk slot on your MICS, what cards are on the main module? If you are going to go with a 12X0 do you have an open fiber port (or even a fiber cartridge)?

Awful complicated configuration for someone who doesn't know what LS/DS is.

Commsguy, lets not discuss my experience here.

That's why Telecom Tech's don't play with MIS/IT Applications

Was not meant as an insult. You obviously have limited telecom experience. It is not often that an experienced telecom tech will be exposed to a configuration such as yours. I apologize if you took offense. I just thin you have a challenging time ahead of you.

BTW. The configuration above will only address outgoing calls. As mentioned by executone, you need the carrier to configure incoming failover. I know in my business incoming calls are my priority in a systems down situation.

In SBC/Ameritech there is a service called CLAR "Circuit location alternate routing" which is a pre-set plan (pay for) that allows you, when your main number goes down, to activate the plan and re-route calls to a pre-designated phone number. Hospitals in this area love this. Your Telco may have a similar plan available, call and ask they won't shoot you for just askin.
