Hi

I have a problem with a IP 5000 v2 running 6.0.44 core software and voicemail Pro 6.0.44. The problem is that when ever any of the calls go to voicemail once the caller clears the call the analog lines hang for about 100 seconds. It only seems to happen when the calls are answered by VM.If you ring in and hang up before VM kicks in the lines are ok.

I have checked the disconnect clear box is checked and also changed the disconnect times to various setting but to no affect. Mt distributor has said to get BT to change their line setting, but I think it is an issue with the VM.Why do the lines clear ok except when they reach VM.

Thanks in advance for any help.

This is normal for analog lines, disconnect clear is not offered in EU so IP Office continously listens on the line for a busy tone, if that is detected for a fixed time the IP Office will disconnect the line.

BT do support disconnect clear, ask them what it is set to and set the IPO 150 ms lower:)

Hi

Yes I know for a fact BT do support disconnect clear and I have also been advised about setting IP office to 150ms below that, but why is it that it only hangs when it goes through to voicemail?

sometimes alog lines just play up. there could be numerous reasons, but one is copper degradation or high capacitance on the line. it might be worth getting BT to check it.

becuase voicemail is not smart enough to recogines when the remote end has disconnected. People usually are - particularily as there is usually a "protocol handshake" i.e. both callers say "goodbye" before putting the handset down.

This is why loop current disconnect is used by the CO to signal to the PABX that the call has cleared. Your PABX is either not recognising this signalling from BT, or BT are not sending it - despite what they say.

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Use monitor to trace the ATM trunk, it will tell you if it recognize the disconnect signal.
If it doesn't it will report something like "sloppy disconnect detected" which means it does receive the signal but it is out of configured parameters and thus ignored by IPO.
