Hi, I'm reposting this message in case I get an answer this time.......it just keeps happening and happening!!!!!

I've got this really annoying problem with my network, NT4 based, Exchange 5.5 SP3 and Outlook 98. This has been happening on and off for some time and I've never been able to get to the bottom of it.

Heres the scenario.....

User1 logs onto pc and tries to make an appointment in Outlook with no other apps open - error message -

Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again.

User2 logs onto same pc and gets same message. This points at it being pc specific I reckon because if any of these users go to any other pc on the n/work they can access and use Outlook normally.

So....what I've done at the said pc is.....

Looked in Event Viewer - nothing.
Uninstalled Outlook, deleted ALL registry entries specific to Outlook, reinstalled Outlook. Same problem. I've also deleted the mail account (and recreated it) from Exchange and even the roaming profile.

Has anyone got any ideas??? How about deleting the local profile from the pc - reinstalling SP6a? Please help, the only way I've found out of this is to rebuild the removable hard-drives and reintroduce to the n/work which is a complete waste of resources!

Please someone help - my head is frying.

Okay, this looks like a tough one.
Few questions:
What are the specs of the PC with the problem?
Are the PC's that are working correctly similiarly specced?
Are u having any other issues with this machine?
Are u running any antivirus software on this machine?
Ur saying that the onlu fix uve come across is to totally reimage the PC?- Does it begin to happen again even if u do this?
Does this Registry key :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Time Zones

exist and is it correct:?

Hi Kippy thanks for getting back.

PC's are different specs but mainly P4's, 256Mb mem and 4Gb partitioned drives.
There doesn't actually seem to be any connection between the specs.
Machines are fine other than this, Outlook runs correctly (except for the Calendar) as does all other Office apps.
Virus s/ware is McAfee, Total Virus Defence.
If you rebuild the brick then no it doesn't happen again I'm pretty sure, it's really random.
The reg key seems to exist but I'm not sure what you mean by correct????

It's actually just happened to another PC.....I'm gonna lose the will to live!

I really can't think of anything else to do, problem is also that the network I'm involved with is a military one so for things like virus defence I have no say.

Any ideas would be wicked.

What service pack have u running on the desktop OS?
Can u download Hijackthis(do a search in google) and run it on one of the machines while outlook is running. Post the log file here.
What I mean about the reg key is:
When u go into control panel regional settings is the correct time zone etc set?

Hi again,

SP6a on the workstations and I've checked the regional settings and they seem fine.

Not too sure about this s/ware, Hijackthis - does it actually install or just sit as an external application. I've just got to be really careful about what I throw on the system. Military crap....you know!!!!!

Thanks for your ongoing help on this...it would be great if we could find a solution as it's becoming a nightmare!

Both the applications install on the machine,
I am listing some links which i want you to look through.
let me know if any of them look plausable to what ur issue is....
if none are, go into task manager and list the running processes and post the list here.

MS KB 192409

Hi to both of you,

I've looked through the links and gone through both the registry on the the faulty PC and compared values (that I can find!) to values on my PC to try and find the problem but no joy.

I've used about 4 search engines on the net but there is nothing specific to Outlook, Memory and the calendar that appears to relate to the problem I've got here.

I would of thought uninstalling and reinstalling and deleting profiles would of done the trick but I'm having no luck.

I'm in the process of contacting MS, not sure how much help that's gonna be.

If you can think of anything else please let me know. It's definately specific to the actual PC - that's for sure, that's why rebuilding the HDD sorts the problem.

Thanks for your help.

If u get nowhere with MS, rebuild the PC, enough time has been spent on this issue.

Perhaps a long shot, but try increasing the virtual memory allocation on the problem machines.

Good Luck.

Might be worth giving the hard disk and memory a good diagnostic stress check... How about doing a defrag on the hard drive - Good ol' Bill never included one with NT4...
