Is there anywhere in Veritas where I can find the amount of space left on a tape after a backup? Maybe even the compression ratio?? I am trying to judge how close I am to needing 2 tapes for each backup.

Arcserve actually shows both in the activity log, but I would rather cut off both hands before going back to that piece of %*@#.

Simply go to Devices >> Slots. By clicking once on the tape, the bottom panel will show you Used Capacity, Available Capacity, Total Capacity, Bytes writtena nd Compression Ratio. Hope this helps

Running Vers. 8.5 and i do not see anything on the bottom panel? Any other suggestions??

Right click on the tape and select Properties. I believe you will find the information there.

Well, i appreciate the suggestions but the propeties only show total bytes written and read to the tape for it's lifetime. I am in Crystal Reports right now trying to put together a report for this, but I am a rookie at this program, so wish me luck...

I just checked our 8.6 and can't find this info either, just very basic stuff in the properties window.

Can anyone show how to get to this extra information, or, at least, how to display the bottom panel?

Thanks!

In version 8.6, how can I know the similar info, like the amount of space left on a tape after a backup? When I go to the device tab and click on Properties of the device, it shows some figures in the statistics tab. May I know are those figures calculated? Are they cumulative or did they reset it after detecting a new tape?

Best Regards,

Backup Exec 9.0 is the only version that will report back the used tape capacity.

Cheers
