i was trying to change my processor from AMD ATHLON 1700+ xp to 1800+ xp but theres no output in the monitor...

my motherboard is 867AS, RAM is 128MB SDRAM.

can anyone help me plssss.

Just check as many times as you can reseating that processor & the heatsink is properly installyed. If it still doesn't work, triple check that your motherboard supports up through an XP 1800+. If that's all fine, and the 1700+ works but the 1800+ doesn't, now start considering that the cpu may be defective.

There's really no reason why you can't just pop in the new cpu other than those few things above.

i have already try the 1800+ to place in other AMD motherboard(REDFOX)and it runs. i think my motherboard(867AS via) doesn't support 1800+.

can somebody help me on how to configure my motherboard(867AS via) so that it will support 1800+.

I am guessing but is the XP1.7+ a Palomino core (larger squarer die) and the XP1.8+ a thoroughbred (smaller and more rectangular)
It might be, and i will check later, that your motherboard supports Palomino core only (up to XP2.1+)

Replying helps further our knowledge, without comment leaves us wondering.

yeah, my XP1.7+ is a palomino core and my XP1.8+ is a thoroughbred...:)
