Hello

I installed a new Dedicated Storage node.
I use Red Hat ES4.(normaly we use ES3)
We use a Fibre-Channel for the Data transfer and a 100MB for the protocol.

When i install the lgtodrvr package i have the following error

/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.90775: line 11: ${file}: ambiguous redirect

i could install the other Legato packages without any problem.

Normaly we make a redirect on the Legato Server with the jbedit commando.
and then we have on the dedicated Storage node 1 nsrmmd process runing for ever LTO.

but with this server it didnt work i could do the redirect but the legato Server cant start the nsrmmd on the node.

Has enyone an idee what the problem could be?

Thanks for the help
Stephan

This might point to either a compatibility issue or an incomplete install.

I have used NW 7.3 with RH 4 a while ago and did not encounter any such problem.

You are right 605

But i have the same message evey time i install the rpm.

My NW is 7.2

Whatever this is responsable for, it looks that there is a problem in the ?script?

What exactly do you mean by 'redirecting'?

Hello 605

We Backup our Datas the following way.

In every Network Zone we have a Legato Dedicated Storage Node.
The Dedicated Storage Node collects all the Data via rsync from the Servers in that Zone.

The Dedicated Storage Node is with a 100M/B Network connectet to the Legato Server. The Server has also a Emulex Fibre-Channel card.

Our LTO1 are all connected with Fibre-Channel.

So we send the Datas over Fibre and the Protocol Datas (the infos for the Legado DB) over the 100BM Net.

when we install an new Dedicated Storage Node we make a rd (redirect) for alle the LTO1 we need.
We do that with the "jbedit -a" command.
and in the Networker Administator window you see then the "new" LTOs.
For example:
rd=bckst1zhh:/dev/IBMtape1

On the Dedicated Storage Node runs:
2 nsrexecd
and for ever LTO 1 nsrmmd
Process.

With Red Hat ES3 that work fine.

But now i Installed a new one with ES4

The problem is now:
I have the Install error i wrothe above.
And Legato Server cant Start the nsrmmd on the new Dedicated Storage Node.

Sorry, but i can't help you any further as there are obviously a lot of situations, where such error will occur. I am thinking of a missing package.

However, did you look up the Compatibility Guide at all? -
NW 7.2 is listed as NW Client, not as SN/Server. In this case you should update.

As i mentioned already, NW 7.3 and RH 4 was not a problem for me. But i never tested NW 7.2 and RH 3.

I have seen the sam behaviour, to me it looks like
the storagenode component of NW 7.2.x can only be installed on linux with an 2.4.x kernel [RHEL 3.0].
If you want to use an 2.6.x [RHEL 4.0] Linux Kernel you have to use NW 7.3.x
