I'm new to frame relay and know little about it. we have used frame relay for years for comunication between 2 distant offices. now we use vpn over the internet. Just found out we are still paying at&t for frame relay. How can I tell if we are actually using the frame relay ? Dont want to stop paying for it , turn it off and suddenly discover it is still being used.

check the configuration of your router...
if you are suing vpn over at&t's mpls cloud then chances are that you are still using a framerelay service on your last mile (your prem to the CO)
i would think they wouldn't bill it as a framerelay though...

if you do not manage the router at your site then there is a good chance that it is a frame relay T1..

only way to prove it is not frame is to know how you connect to the network.. is it DSL? or T1?

so what kind of equipment does the T1 terminate on at your building? is it a paradyne? or right into a cisco?

FrameRelay is probably the most common type of t1 service offered by telcos

looks like its going into a cisco 1760
sorry i'm not very knowlegable on this and its hard to get help from AT&T

if the cisco is owned by AT&T then there should be a circuit number attached to it that you can call into them and ask them the type of service it is...
there should be support information attached to the device.

before the cisco... what device is it plugged into?
