Can it realy be true that I am one of a very few people using StorageTek disksystems?

/johnny

You could be. They say they have some marketshare, but EMC/HDS/NetApp don't even consider STK a disk threat.

But the funny thing is that the D280 is a great box.
When I just was thinking about what EMC and NetApp cost, I was running away.

beleive it or not I sell all 3 and EMC always ends up beating STK and NetApp on price.

Being a national reseller, I noticed that different disk vendors play better in different regions.

I too like the D series box. Santricity is an awsome product and very easy to use.

Have you looked at their new B220 and B280 SATA arrays?

The EMC boxes seem to be shut. Meaning that you have to pay for every little thing you get for it. They won't allow the user to do what they want to once they buy the box. Open systems is the way to go in my opinion. STK provides this.

Hello all,

I am new to the area of storage but I am having to do some research on some good data replication and disaster recovery systems for a proposal I am working on. I have looked into NetApp and I was hoping I could get some feedback on the forms here.

How good is NetApp? Are there any other solutions out there that would be comparable to this? If you could post your thoughts on NetApp and maybe post a few alternatives that I could research it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jesse

I haven't worked directly with NetApp myself, but I don't think you will not find any NAS system that from a tech. point is better then the FAS900 series from NetApp.
But like most other things in life, it depends on what you need. This is highend stuff that cost a lot.
