I use to work on G3R's in a large call center environment about 7 years ago. Getting back into Avaya switches and call centers. Are the vectoring/VDN's and basic commands all the same on the newer systems with Avaya? I'm hoping it will be a short ramp time to get up to speed. Please let me know if you have any comments or thoughts about old vs new. Thanks in advance.
 
Variables in vectors is probably the major feature to understand, see link below


amongst other r4.0 enhancements, vectors now have 99 steps and can be duplicated from the command line

from an admin point of view it won't take you too long to get up to speed all the basic add/change/remove list commands are still the same
 
They are basically the same just a fee newer, later greater, features thats all. The biggest adjustment you will need to make is working with servers as the processors now. The old PPN's are now EPN's and the processors and now mounted in racks.

Hell, there are no rules here - we're trying to accomplish something.

Thank you. I didn't think much had changed. I use to be able to make the switch stand on its head. It king of worried me though when I interview for a position and the hiring manager shut down the interview when I told him I had no S8700 experience although I had worked on AT&T/Lucent/Avaya switches for 20 years with most of it being call centers.
