I've got a copy of HomeSite 4.0 I've previously been running on my Windows '95 home PC. I have recently bought a new laptop with Windows 2000 as the OS - will HomeSite 4.0 install and operate successfully on my new machine ?
Anyone able to tell me one way or the other prior to me attempting the install and running of the software this weekend ?
Thanks in advance.
Steve

I'm not sure. It runs well on NT and Window's 98. YOu might want to check their knowledge base at and see if there are any answers there.

Hope this helped.

I have W2K, SP1 and Allaire Homesite 4.5.2 and it works fine - if this is of any help. Failing that the FAQ should help -

I have uninstalled Homesite 4.5.2 on a Win2K machine...seems i am left with a Allaire FTP&RDS icon in MY COMPUTER ..A file search came up empty..How can i delete this icon? Thanks

Just select it, right click and delete... Have Fun...

It's kinda scary that this thread is three years old ...
where is everyone, at the Dreamweaver forum?

... but FWIW ...

I/ we were running Homesite 4 and 5 on Windows 2000 (upgraded) for awhile (a year, or two) with no issues and now Homesite 5.x on XP Pro and another copy on Windows 2000.

FWIW, if anyone reads this two years from now ....

I should HOPE that a thread dealing with version 4 and Win 95 is three years old!

I'd be more concerned that yours is only the 3rd post since October 2003, and 1 of those has not been answered.

Has anyone installed HomeSite 4.5 on XP? Is there a Homesite version that still behaves just as version 4.5 (I don't want the Macromedia crap) and that runs under XP (would like to un-install XP but that's not possible)? If all fails is there another free/shareware editor similar to the old ColdFusion/HomeSite editor?

This thread lives on ...

I am running Homesite 5 on XP Pro on my personal system. We also run the same version on WIN2000.

I found 5.x t be very similar to 4.x.
