Guys,

I'm currently using Veritas BE 9.1. Got 4 Remote Agents, SQL and Exchange agents plus it's all attached to a tape autoloader.

Problem is that we are now using mutliple SQL 2005 DB's, SharePoint 2007 and Exchange 2007.

There's no upgrade path from 9.1 to the latest and I'm not paying nearly £3000 to backup 5 servers.

So, i'm looking for alternatives to Veritas BE. BrightStor is about the same sort of price. I've looked at NovaBackup from NovaStor but haven't got any first hand experience on it.

Anyone know of good alternatives?

Thanks,

Steve.

if you dont want to spend any money theres always good old NT lol

I think what it comes down to how much is your companys data worth. If you lose that data how much money does you company have to pay out for employess sitting around doring nothing..it may be worth the money then and the support you get.

You can upgrade from 9.1 to 11d but not licensing way. RIght now BE 11d doesnt support Sharepoint 2007 or Exchange 2007...soon in next month.

i agree steveot what price do you put on your data? not only are they sitting about but what about the data u may loose it could criple most companys

You can save some money by not buying SQL Agents. Have SQL make it's own backups, then have BE copy them to tape.

Just my two bits but I had nothing but problems when using Brightstor's Arcserve. It seemed to require a heck of a lot more restarts than BE does.
