Alternative Databases

Just thinking ...
I know things like this are not supported but has any of you tried using MySQL or PostGreSQL database servers on linux boxes to store your data ?

I got MySQL to link up with ODBC using the MS-SQL utility that comes with Arcserveit 6.61. It failed when I tried to initialize the data though.

Just curious, Any thoughts would be interesting.

Likewise. Im sure there are lots of people whose lives are a misery due to Raima/Velocis on Arcserve. Mine is around 7GB and the checking utils cause more damage than good.
MSSQL costs of course.
It would be great if MYSQL could be used instead.
