We have a number of very small businesses for which the IP Office hasn't been a good fit. The old Partner system was really good but IPO in Partner mode is not. Can anyone recommend a different phone system for small companies who like to see their 2 or 3 lines and all users on buttons? Hair salons, retail stores, churches, etc...Thanks in advance!

I realy do not understand why you want to see lines!
Do you want to see the wheel underneath your car while you are driving?
BAZINGA!

Oh I laughed so hard!!!

People hate change. I'm sure they would be still be satisfied with a rotary phone.

It's only dialtone!!!

every phone system will be different than the one before it. And you are correct... as a whole, people dont like change. I had a good friend that owned a business.... with an ancient merlin Legend. We replaced it with an IP office and their only admonition was to make it act exactly like the old one...My question to them, was why buy a new one... the old one worked fine, they just didnt have a lot of new and useful features. There are always changes you have to deal with whenever you are changing systems... whether it be Avaya, NEC, Panasonic or whatever.

When you can't accept changes you are getting too old :)

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

If cost is an issue and simplicity is an issue, how about a refurbished Nortel Norstar unit with T series phones (T series are still manufactured by Avaya) from an authorized reseller. There have been systems that were released up till 2009, that should still be quite reputable. These systems could probably survive an apocalypse, but just be sure you go with a great vendor that provides a warranty and tech support. There are thousands of businesses out there that still use these phones and phone systems. IP Office supports the Norstar sets quite well, but again, you can't set it up as a squared Key system though.
