I have a large table (23 Million Records). A lot of the information contained within is extaneous. I want to cut some columns from the table. Can I a) truncate the columns b) drop the column c) otherwise get rid of these useless columns

Have you tried...

alter table table_name drop column column_name

?

That should do it. Whatever you do, don't do it through Enterprise Manager on a 23 million row table...
