I have a webpage and in IE, the alt tags for my images work fine, however in Netscape they do not work. What could I be missing that would cause this? Also, when I turn off images in Netscape they still load for this page only. I tried clearing my cache but it still loads the images. Is there some netscape specific code or something I don't know about?

The following is a sample img tag copied directly from my html document. It works in IE but not in NS or Opera.

If you need to see all the code I can either post it or email it to you.
<IMG src="IMAGES/Resource-Logo2.jpg" alt="OCDD Banner">

Hi mate,

The ALT attribute is for providing text when an image is either loading or broken. IE also displays the text on mouseover.

If you want the text to appear on mouseover in NS etc, use the TITLE attribute.

Hope this helps

Thanks, that does help. I haven't used NS in a while so I didn't know that it didn't also show alt text on hover. I removed the images and the alt is working fine!

On a separate subject, is there any reason not to use png image files?

Not all browser versions support PNG image format.

I've experience problems with pngs and IE. Mainly that sometimes the colours are off when displayed in IE (but fine in NS & Opera). However this problem only occurs occasionally and I use png's alot. I thing it is only pre IE4 etc that won't display them but I might be wrong
