Alpha effect problems

Well, I made some simple symbols out of text, then set it up so that the words fade in while expanding in size, and then fade out.

It looks great in the editor, but when I do a Test Movie, or look at the .swf file, the alpha effects don't show up at all! Only the size changes, and there is no fading in or out.

I have seen this effect in action using my browser on other websites, so I know that my player is capable of showing the fade in/out using alpha effects, but I can't seem to get it to work myself...

Can anyone help me? What have I missed?

Believe it or not I have had the same problem! The bleeding thing would not work. I tried everything. So I started again, did the same things and then it worked. Could this be a bug???

I have now had success by breaking apart the text and turning it into a graphic. The fades then work properly. This might add to the file size, but it doesn't seem to be too significant a problem.

Actually, I think it might be a bug that the editor shows text fades, but that the player can't yet support them. Was this a problem in Flash 4 and earlier versions?
