Greetings, we switched to an Exatouch POS in June 2018 but need to access our Aloha BOH to get sales and tax figures for Jan-June 2018. Got locked out after too many failed password attempts. Tried the resetting BOHHASHPWD in the EMP.dbf file trick described earlier from a post in 2016. This worked before back in late 2016.

However it appears the v.12 of Aloha we're running now doesn't allow that. Tried altering the security level of another manager but that returns the User can't be found/verified error.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

There are a few ways to do this. None are as easy as before. There is a tool to reset passwords, but it can mess up other users. Other options is to just dump the database and reimport. This will allow you have master user 1 access. This takes around 15 minutes but is not very hard.
Run this as batch file, change the correct drive letter if needed

d:\bootdrv\cfc\instoreinstaller\instoredatabaseinstaller\aeminstoredatabaseinstaller.exe /deleteonly
d:\bootdrv\cfc\instoreinstaller\instoredatabaseinstaller\aeminstoredatabaseinstaller.exe /installstandalone

When you open Aloha manager next time the user is 1 password is 111 change to new password
Change aloha table service if needed under maintenance store additional features
close aloha manger
log back in with new password
run import database
If all goes well you will have a user 1 access and access to all your previous dated folders

Well, finally got some free time to try your suggestions. Not much luck. Was able to run the batch files and open AM as per your instructions. It did require two attempts as the first attempt locked out the user 1 with a failed log-in attempt after just one try (oh the irony).

The second attempt allowed me to start the import process. However I ran into the unable to import due to POS version greater than 6.9 error in Aloha 12.3.

I came across this thread on Tek-Tips that addresses this issue and followed its advice on altering the VER.dbf file to list it as an older version. Following those instructions I was able to import the database, but then was greeted by the "Your license could not be validated..." Error Code 223.

I don't care about losing users with a Password Reset Tool as we only need access to one admin level user to get the sales and tax figures.

Many thanks in advance for any insight and direction that gets offered

Sounds like you are now out of your comfort zone. Might be time to pay someone to fix

I'm not out of my comfort zone. I'm in uncharted waters.

Just to follow up on this incident. I was able to restore the last .zbak file and luckily guessed the password on the first attempt. I was able to get the sales and tax numbers.

Using sequential numbers when asked to change our password is ultimately what saved the day.
