Aloha Rejected Batches due to a bad transaction

I have been having issues with a particular store getting rejected batches due to a bad transaction. The error that they are getting is "Rejected Batch: (Record Type)=Detail, (Error Type)=Error in Batch (E), (Record Sequence Number)=0070, (Data Field Number)=19".
The process in which this happens is they attempt to batch out at night, receive the rejected batch. I have to call their Credit Processor which is Visanet and they will tell me that the batch failed due to a bad transaction. They will give me the credit card information and then I void that transaction out of the current batch. Sometimes there will be more than one transaction. After getting out the bad transaction, I am then able to batch out successfully. After batching out, I will then re-enter that voided transaction into the newest batch and it will batch out fine.

They started having this issue in the first of May when they switched from DialUp to DSL. The ISP is AT&T. They also have a Sister Restaurant with the exact same setup and they have not experienced any issues at all. Once these problems started occuring, I upgraded their EDC to 7.0.9.4 which did not resolve the issue.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

I would check and see if all the bad transactions are coming from the same terminal. Usually from what i have seen, when you get a bad transaction it's because the software did not read the tracks cleanly and causes the batch to fail..either it sees an erraneous character of some sort.

If the cards that are failing are indeed from a specific terminal, i would try cleaning the MSR on the terminal.

I have not found a cause or solution for the problem you are having it occurs at some of my locations randomly. You don't have to call the processor because the system is telling you what transaction failed and then all you have to do is count down in EDC and then delete that transaction.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I actually found out that this is happening due to the "bad transaction" duplicating the "Transaction Sequence Number" and "Authorization Code" of a good transaction which is provided by the Merchant Processor. After finding this out, our options were to either escalate this up to Merchant Services and find out why these are duplicating or reinstall credit with a whole new account. We chose to reinstall credit with a brand new account on Friday and the client has not had a single issue since then.

We have been seeing this happen as well. Visanet as processor. I have escalated this issue with Visanet and all they can tell me is the transaction ID is a 10 digit number and all transactions are showing 0000000000 for the trans number except the failed transaction. They too have had me delete the trans and then force it in EDC.

MitchMan, you cant count the transactions, because a voided transaction or tip adjustment will make the count off. Unless you have a way of seeing the trans in the batch order directly to get the info?
